While BCS Innovations offers our clients first class prototyping and project development services, our extensive experience shows that many clients are also seeking broader business development support for new projects. In order to assist these clients BCS has established key strategic alliances with business partners that can add real value to projects. They may need assistance with government research and development grants, export grants and export financing, marketing research and development, business management and sales.
 

Chris BuckChris Buck - Consultant Business Development Manager

Chris Buck is a CPA, Economist, has an MBA who is undertaking a Doctorate (DBA) in International Trade and Economics.(He is a committee member of the Export Consultants group of the Institute of Export, one of two  members of the joint Austrade/ Institute of Export Technical Committee). He has a 12year track record of successfully supporting and advising exporters & corporations undertake R & D, Export, Export Finance, Agricultural Grants and Commercialisation grants such as Climate Ready.

Chris was MD of the Exporter that won the 1994 Qld Exporter of the Year for Small Business. We built Hospitals in Iran and the Pacific, Schools for Aus-Aid, Emergency Clinics for FEMA and a UN Peace Keeping Camp in the Middle East. Before that Chris was a trade economist (Trust Officer) at the International offices of what is now called Macquarie Bank.

 

Neil Covey

Neil Covey - Consultant Business Development Manager

Neil has over 30 years experience in Business Management in a number of industries and has held senior positions in major international companies based in Australia. Neil commenced his career in the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) where he developing his skills in personnel, purchasing and finance management.

He later set up and ran a Contract Maintenance business for three years before moving to Queensland where he took on the responsibilities of Purchasing Manager and Production Controller for CIC Industries Ltd.

During the past 24 years he has dedicated his career to the healthcare industry holding responsibilities for Sales, Marketing and Business Development within major companies such as Astra and Bayer Pharmaceuticals. His senior management positions have included leadership roles in International Marketing and Project Management teams in both Europe and Asia.

Neil has successfully launched well-known brands across a broad spectrum of indications into the ethical, hospital, pharmacy and consumer segments of the healthcare market. Products have included scheduled and non scheduled pharmaceuticals, complementary medicines, medical devices, new technologies, treatment programmes and patient support services.

He is experienced in project management and product lifecycle management from development through to maturity phase and has highly developed people skills. Neil also has an in depth knowledge of the Australian market and has established an impressive network of senior contacts within the healthcare and allied industries.

Neil currently manages his consultancy business that is dedicated to supporting companies in all areas of management, marketing and business administration.

Since commencing his business in 2002 Neil has assisted clients with projects in marketing, business coaching, business development, business negotiations domestically and internationally, strategic planning and business plan preparation, product development, government grants, sales management, sales training, and recruitment.

 

Dr Peter Spencer

Dr Peter Spencer - Consultant Business Development Manager

Dr Peter Spencer has over 25 years experience in developing new technology related businesses from capital raising to commercialization across a broad range of technologies including medical devices, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and consumer products. He has worked in the USA, Australia and Germany in a range of senior positions.

These include Johnson and Johnson Inc for 14 years as a Corporate Director and several Start-up companies such as Warm Contract, AI Medics and Vaso Products, which have resulted in the successful commercialisation of a number of new products and enterprises. His other roles have included executive positions and non-executive directorships in public and private companies.

Dr Peter Spencer has come to BCS to offer his vast experience in assisting individuals and companies get the right start.  In addition to working with our clients he is currently the CEO of Warm Contact Pty Ltd, which is developing products for the eye care industry, a Director of AI Medics Pty Ltd and an advisor to Nanosonics Pty Ltd. Areas of expertise that Peter can offer include:

1.      Business plan and strategy development,

-          Developing and documenting a strategy to take a new business opportunity though to commercialisation

2.      Preparation for capital raising,

-          Assisting clients to  optimise their business case and  develop the documents required to present their business proposition to potential investors

3.      Product and operations planning and development,

-          Developing products based on market need and competition analysis in order to create competitive advantage. Planning business operations to capture competitive advantage

4.      Non-executive Directorship and Interim Management

-          Assisting businesses as a director or short term manager

5.      Commercial deal development.

-          Working with clients and their legal representatives to negotiate and draft contractual agreements with commercial partners

6.      Regulatory and Clinical Study Development

-          Developing healthcare regulatory approval and clinical study design pathways that optimise time to market and capture of product competitive advantage

Peter has qualifications in Science (BSc, Sydney University), Chemical Engineering (BE , hons 1, Sydney University), Biomedical Engineering (PhD, UNSW) and a Business Degree from Columbia University, NY (MBA, hons society).

 

Dr Stewart MontanoDr Stewart Montano - Consultant Senior Biomedical Engineer

Stewart graduated in medicine from the UNSW in 1987, and after working at St Vincents hospital he studied a MbiomedE at the UNSW in 1989. He spent 1990 to 1994 in anaesthesia training and graduated a specialist anaesthetist in 1995.  He spent a research year in cardiopulmonary bypass in 1994 and developed an electro-hydraulic simulator for doctor training. Since then he has practiced in anaesthesia, developed other medical simulators,  produced devices for clinical trials and undertaken medical teaching.

 

Andy Wyatt Andy Wyatt - Consultant Project Manager

Andy's main expertise is in real-time control systems, with a focus on automotive engine control. He has extensive experience in C and assembly-level coding of microcontrollers.

Andy was awarded a Bachelor of Science (Computing) from the University of Sydney. His second degree was in Mechatronic Engineering, with a thesis on an adaptive engine control unit.

Andy joined BCS Innovations in 2000 on a part time basis while completing his degree, he receiving First Class honours and University Medal at University of Sydney. He has been a key playing in BCS’s success . Back in 2003, he was the main technical drive behind several BCS projects including the Blood Glucose Meter, which won Australian Design Award.

Andy sponsors and supports several education initiatives, including Tournament of the Minds, Formula SAE and is on the Macquarie University Engineering Industry Advisory Council. He has also represented BCS as a founding member of Embedded Systems Australia in their steering committee. In addition to his other achievements and duties he is on the Board of Adaptronics Electronics P/L, a company specialising in design and manufacture of aftermarket engine control units for modified cars.
