Prototyping
A prototype is a proof of concept of an electronic, software and or mechanical device.
Prototyping can present in different stages:
- A non functioning actual size Rapid Prototype made from foam or other appropriate material may be a stage required in the design stage.
- A Functional Prototype can demonstrate the technical abilities of a product giving “a hands on” device, to show to potential customers and business partners. Clients get a better feel for how the product is going to look and feel, more so than drawn sketches and 3D models.
Prototyping is the first stage of developing can be a device for testing before production/manufacture. It doesn’t matter if it’s an electronic/electromechanical device in an enclosure, or a bare circuit board, or a rebuild from another design. Prototyping can be a computer application or rapid prototyped plastic or metal parts that operate as the production device will.
